c-span. first, mitt romney will campaign in englewood, colorado with his wife, ann romney. and then president obama and bill clinton will wrap up the day of campaigning in bristow, virginia. but first, this is this week's radio addresses. president obama talking about the countries response to hurricane sandy. then mitt romney talking about the upcoming election. >> this weekend, millions of our fellow americans are still picking up the pieces from one of the worst storms in our history. i toured new jersey on wednesday with governor christie, and witnessed some of the terrible devastation firsthand. it's heartbreaking. families have lost loved ones. entire communities have been wiped away. even some of the first responders who repeatedly put themselves in harm's way to bravely save the lives of others have suffered losses of their own. today, i ask everyone to keep them in your prayers. and as president, i promise

them this -- your country will be there for you for as long as it takes to recover and rebuild. throughout the week, i've been in constant contact with governors and mayors in the affected areas, who are doing an excellent job in extraordinarily difficult circumstances. and we owe the first responders and national guardsmen who have been working around the clock our deepest gratitude. our number one concern has been making sure that affected states and communities have everything they need to respond to and recover from this storm. from the earliest hours, i ordered that resources be made available to states in the path of the storm as soon as they needed them. and i instructed my team not to let red tape and bureaucracy get in the way of solving problems -- especially when it came to making sure local utilities could restore power as quickly as possible. before the storm hit, fema pre- staged emergency response teams from north carolina to maine, and deployed resources like food, water, and generators up and down the coast. as the storm passed, thousands

of fema personnel were on the ground responding to those in need. and by midweek, the department of defense was ready to fly in cargo planes that could be loaded with trucks and equipment to help local power companies get up and running faster. but recovery will be a long, hard road for many communities. there's a lot of work ahead. if you've been directly impacted by this storm and need temporary assistance getting back on your feet, you can call 1-800-621-fema, or apply at disasterassistance.gov. if you know folks who are still without power, please spread the word and let them know. and if you don't live in an affected area and want to help, supporting the red cross is the best and fastest way. this week, we have been humbled by nature's destructive power. but we've been inspired as well. for when the storm was darkest, the heroism of our fellow citizens shone brightest.

the nurses and doctors at nyu medical center who evacuated fragile newborns, carrying some down several flights of stairs. the firefighters in queens who battled an inferno from flooded streets, and rescued people from an apartment building by boat. the coast guard crews from north carolina who saved a sinking ship in stormy seas -- and their rescue swimmer who, when he reached those in need, said, "i'm dan, and i hear you guys need a ride." that's who we are. we're americans. when times are tough, we're tougher. we put others first. we go that extra mile. we open our hearts and our homes to one another, as one american family. we recover, we rebuild, we come back stronger -- and together we will do that once more. thanks. god bless you and god bless america. >> hello, i am mitt romney, and as you probably know, i am the republican candidate for president. i would like to start off by saying that our thoughts and prayers are with those on the

east coast who have been affected by hurricane sandy. americans come together in times of crisis. our first impulse is to come to the aid of those in need. this time will be no different, and we will help our fellow americans recover from this tragic storm. in just a few short days, americans will go to the polls and cast their ballots. many of us are thinking about election day this tuesday, november 6, but we should also spend some time thinking about november 7. that is the day we will know whether we made the right choice, whether we settled for more of the same disappointment and decline, or whether we took the first step down a new path that will deliver a real recovery and real change. when you step into the voting booth, i would ask you to think about the last four years. four years ago, candidate obama promised to do so very much, but he has fallen so very short. after all of the petty partisanship, all of the stand- offs and stalemates, 23 million americans are still struggling

for work. on friday, the unemployment rate rose to 7.9%. 47 million people are on food stamps. our economy is still on life support. and our country is $16 trillion in debt. we cannot afford four more years like the last four years, but that is exactly what president obama is offering. instead of developing a plan to address our serious challenges, his campaign is focused on phony issues. and instead of thinking big, they have wound up looking small. the question of this election comes down to this -- do you want more of the same or do you want real change? president obama promised change, but he could not deliver it. i promise change, and i have a record of achieving it. we need a real turnaround if we are going to get our economy growing and get americans working again. and i have led that kind of effort many times before. during my 25 years in business,

i helped people turn their dreams into success stories. together, we built names like staples, bright horizons, and the sports authority. and helped create over 100,000 jobs. when i became governor of massachusetts, the economy was in bad shape and our budget was out of balance. my legislature was 85% democrat and people were not sure if our state's leaders could get the job done, but we worked together. by the time i left office, we had moved past 20 states in job creation and turned a $3 billion deficit into a $2 billion rainy day fund. whether in public office or at a private business, i did not ask people what party they belonged to. i asked them what ideas they brought to the table. as governor, i met with leaders of both parties to find common ground. that is what i will do as president -- and i will start on day one. on my first day in office, i will also send five bills to congress and sign five executive orders. every one of them will help us

create jobs. and that is just the start of my plan to create 12 million jobs in my first term alone. every piece of legislation and every executive order will help us achieve five important goals. first, we will achieve north american energy independence by the year 2020. second, we will make sure our students and workers have the skills they need to succeed. third, we will promote trade the works for america and crack down on countries like china when they cheat. fourth, we will cut the deficit from day one and balance our budget within 10 years. and finally, we will champion our small businesses, the engine of job creation in this country. look, i know we face big challenges and we do not need more catch phrases or word games. we do not need more of the same petty partisan attacks. we need a leader, a leader with a real plan that will deliver real results. my opponents have spent much of

campaigning on this third day, three days before election day. we have live road to the white house coverage on c-span. in 20 minutes or so, we will take you to englewood, colorado. mitt and ann romney have their last stop of the day. they have been in new hampshire and iowa. we follow that with your reaction. later, president obama who has been in four states -- virginia will be his last in last virginia, jiffyw, lube live pavilion. he will be joined by bill clinton. lots of lot of political coverage. road to the white house coverage on c-span. over the past week and a half on our "washington journal" program, we have been focusing on those battleground states and taking a close look at each of them. we will give you a brief look and an overall view of the important state of ohio.

host: we have been highlighting key battleground states as part of a series and the countdown to campaign 2012. today we will wrap up their series by putting a spotlight on ohio. to do that, we are joined by mark naymik, a political reporter with the "cleveland plain dealer." ohio has 18 crucial electoral votes. september unemployment rate of 7%. and a state that president obama won by a little more than four points in 2008. go beyond the numbers and explain why ohio has been described as the ultimate battleground state. guest: great question. ohio doesn't need any more spotlight. the candidates themselves and their running mates have been in ohio about 80 plus times by the time this weekend is over. that is a lot of activity. and the reason they are here,

ohio is that crucial bellwether. and has only been a wrong i think twice in the last 10 or 12 -- last 110 or 112 years and predicting a president. we have a great balance of republicans, democrats and independents. about a third of each. in ohio, you do not have to declare a party come your affiliation is determined by which primary votes to cast. and you have some flexibility. also, the geography of ohio lends itself to become a great slice of america. it going to the northeast of ohio on the shores of lake erie, the south shores of lake erie compared to canada, you will find a lot of the industrial base in places like cleveland. as you move further south, you will find a lot of rural areas, and agriculture is the largest export in the state. if the go to the southeast, you will run into the foothills of the appalachian mountains.

people down there that will swing on the economic issues. and the go farther west in the southern part of the state, he will run into cincinnati, very conservative. if you move back up north on the west side, you get towards toledo and begin a mix of both rural and industrial. a lot of auto jobs. one reason why both candidates spend a lot of time there. host: this shows a little what you are talking about as you talk about the geography and ready votes are located. the solid democratic parts of the state and blue, and solid republican parts and read. about that columbus area. guest: columbus the state capital is where the ohio state is, that has become the key swing area of the state. it is growing.

it has younger voters. it is a fluent. it is in an area that the previous bush's had one. but president obama made it flipped and took it by several percentage points. i think you are seeing a lot of attention in going there. this weekend, president obama will be finishing topping off his ohio campaigning in central ohio. in the past tv of cycles, we -- past two cycles, we have seen the democratic candidate come up in northeast ohio and try to make that pushed. i think he is comfortable with the get out to vote efforts. he ought to go down -- he has to appeal to the swing areas. more independent voters. and you had this educated, affluent group, the base around ohio state university. and that has been critical. in the end, if you show that map, ohio is broken up, we have said it for years into 5 ohios.

those five areas, plus some of the border areas, we have about seven media markets. it makes a very expensive to campaign here. in gubernatorial races and some presidential races there will go to west virginia to reach the southern ohio parts. that is where the bigger market is and that has to be part of the mix, too. ohio is five ohios. host: we talked about the issues, the top issues in ohio in this election cycle -- can we talk about the issues? guest: this is like to been a shock to your viewers, but the auto issue has been huge here. i have never seen where one issue in the campaign can play so well here. obviously, it is the battle of the bailout. who wanted to take it into bankruptcy. who got hurt, who did not.

you are seeing the new ones -- the nuance being played on. and you are seeing the big swing, which is on the president's side, i save the auto industry. and the mitt romney has been trying to play the policies of the president and how they have hurt auto and how they will send the jobs to china and elsewhere. you can see how they are targeting some of their campaign stops. this place in the northwest, a very heavily auto-related. and in dayton. -- in dayton you have delphi. it gets into, do those autoparts makers lose their pension as a result of the auto bailout because other people got protection? this is the kind of thing being battled an ohio. host: the "washington post"

puts that in perspective. it notes that there is an auto industry presence in 80 of the 88 counties in ohio. overall, one in eight jobs in the state is tied directly or indirectly to the auto industry. down from one in five a decade ago. we of the auto issue. what else tops the list? guest: is not as big, but it has some importance in the map of ohio. that is the energy issue. particularly coal. those issues play. and it takes it back into what it described earlier, the foothills of the appalachia. mitt romney has run commercials on their targeting it, trying to portray president obama as someone who will hurt the coal country because of its emphasis

and aide to alternative energy, solar and other things. the energy issue has had little bubble here in ohio, perhaps more than some of the other areas because of the coal, we also have the natural gas, for lacking is a big issue as a -- fracking is a big issue as a backdrop and the state. i think people are primed to talk about energy. host: talk to us about the mechanics of voting. early voting allowed in ohio. and the potential for three counts and when that kicks in. guest: ohio has early voting, and has early voting by two methods. we have this no-fault absentee ballot, you do not need a reason, you cannot aldo and an order -- all the campaigns are sending this to get a vote by mail application. and we have in a person boding -- voting which is more controversial.

if you are looking for a third issue it has been over the rules. there have been a lot of battles. obama's campaign -- on the grounds that having limited in a person of voting for veterans only leading up to the election was actually creating an unequal playing field. you can do it by mail come in person. both campaigns have spent a lot of time pushing matt. -- pushing that. absentee ballot requests are up. in person balloting, at least in the democratic base, is running a tad behind what president obama had, or had hoped to get in 2008 in terms of ballot requests coming from democrats. that is still a pretty strong turnout. and republicans benefit from

a look ahead to tomorrow. our coverage continues tomorrow afternoon at 3:45 eastern, president obama in hollywood, florida. later that evening, this is a pennsylvania stop for mitt romney live at 5:25 eastern. next up in five minutes or so, 8:25, we take you to englewood, colorado. colorado one of the state's we focused on in the past week and a half. host: we have focused on the nine swing states that hold the keys to the election. today we put the spotlight on colorado. it looks like it is a close race for the presidential election. you can see the state of colorado there with its four corridors. the battleground 2012 state of colorado has nine electoral votes. the unemployment rate right now is 8%. president obama won the state

in 2008 by a 9% advantage. joining us from denver is curtis hubbard. what is the top issue for colorado voters? guest: it would not surprise you when i sit the top issue is the economy and jobs. energy is a big issue. education is another big issue. among the latino population and especially democrats, immigration reform is a big issue. host: what is the demographic of the voters in colorado? guest: 52% women, 48% men. over the years, we have increased the number of people voting by mail. already 800,000 people have cast ballots in the state. the state is equally divided. one-third is republicans, one- third is democrats, and the

other one-third are unaffiliated voters. everybody is playing for that group of unaffiliated voters. you try to figure out which way it will break. you will hear a lot of talk about appealing to women and latinos. we have heard a lot about the bennett strategy, that refers to the strategy michael bennett used in running against the tide and enter 2010 where by appealing to women and latinos he was able to eke out a victory in a year that was not favorable to democrats. host: where are the traditionally democratic areas of the state versus the republican areas of the state? guest: denver is ground zero for democrats. boulder would be another one. they have large registration and arapahoe county. for a lot of people who follow politics, the fifth biggest county is el paso county, home

to colorado springs. that is typically viewed as a republican stronghold. it is, but is also a big vote a bank for democrats. increasingly we have seen the ski areas that have started to trended democrat. the southwest corner of the state are two other ski resort communities that tented a democrat. host: a lot of focus on early voting in this contest. does colorado have it? what is it looking like? guest: we do, we have mailed ballots and early voting. we have already had more people vote overseas this year than all of 2008. like i said, we had 800,000 ballots returned. the republicans had a 20,000 ballot advantage. nobody knows how the unaffiliated voters are breaking. about 2 million people voted

early are absentee and enter the 2008 election. that is expected to grow to 2.5 million this election cycle. keep in mind colorado has 2.8 million active voters, more when you look at inactive voters. about three-quarters of the vote should be conducted in colorado, maybe a little more prior to november 6. host: on election day, what is the voting system like? guest: we have optical scanners. we have the digital machines that are just touch screen machines. there are also hand counted paper ballots. host: could there be post- election litigation in colorado? we are hearing about that in other states. guest: there could. the clerks and the secretary of state office is prepared for that possibility. in colorado, there is a mandatory recount of the challenger finishes within half of a percent of the top vote-

getter. host: we are talking with curtis hubbard of "the denver post." he was the politics editor from 2007 until 2011. he has been covering many of the races in that state. part of our battleground series. if we could go to "the denver post" endorsement, who did you endorse and why? guest: we endorsed president obama. we felt when we look at the two candidates' positions side by side, the president was a little more realistic. we also like his more balanced approach to energy. we are in favor of obamacare. the editorial board was in favor of a public option.

it did not go far enough for us. on social issues from immigration reform to women pose a health rights to birth control issues, the editorial board aligns more with the president's policies. voters are being asked by both candidates to take a leap of faith. given what we know about the previous four years, we decided it was an easier bet to go with the president for four more. host: how many times of using -- have you seen president obama or governor romney or their surrogates in your state? guest: president obama has been here six times this year. mitt romney has been here 6. joe biden has been here once. >> will break away here and take you to englewood, colorado for mitt and ann romney. live coverage here on c-span.

tuesday night. now, the closing hours of a campaign have a dynamic all their own. many voters have already made up their minds. i figure you guys are. you know what you are going to do. there are others who are putting aside the demands of daily living and they are considering who to vote for and how that vote will affect their lives and the laws of their children and the course of the country we love. and we ask them to look beyond the speeches and the attacks and the ads. look to the records, the cosmos, the failures, and the judgments, -- the accomplishments -- because words are cheap. the record is real and it is earned with effort.

change can't be measured in speeches. it is measured in achievements. and four years ago, candidate obama promised to do so very much. but he has fallen so very short. i mean, he promised he would be opposed as partisan president. but he has been most partisan. dividing, attacking, blaming. he was going to focus on creating jobs. instead he focused on creating a obama-care to kill jobs. phe said he was going to cut the federal deficit in half but then he doubled that. then he said he would bring the unemployment rate down to 5.2% by now. we learned on friday it is 7.9%. it is 9 million jobs short of what he promised. and unemployment today is higher

than when barack obama took office. by the way, he also promised he would propose a plan by now to save social security and medicare. he did not. rather, he rated $716 billion from the medicare to pay for obama-care. the list goes on. he said he would a lower health premiums by $2,000 a family. but instead they have gone up by $3,000 per family. the average american family pays $2,000 a year more for gasoline than when president obama was elected. i will mention one more thing. he said he would work across the aisle on the most important issues. this is interesting. he has not met on the economy or on the budget or on jobs with the republican leader of the house or the senate since july. and so, instead of bridging the

divide, he is making it wider. people wonder how is that he has fallen so short of what he promised. i think it is in part because he has never led, he has never worked across the aisle, he has never truly understood how jobs are created in this economy. by the way, he is making new promises. promises he will not be able to keep because he admits he is planning on staying on the same path. the same course we have been on will not lead to a better destination. the same path we are on means $20 trillion in debt at the end of a second term that we will not have. it means crippling unemployment. it means stagnant take-home pay, depressed home values, a devastated military. unless we change course, we may be looking at another recession. so the question of this election comes down to this -- do you want more of the same or do you want real change?

president obama promised change but he could not deliver change. i promise change and i have a record of achieving real change. i built a business, helped turn around another. i helped put an olympics back on track. and with a democrat legislature, i helped turn my state from deficit to surplus and from job losses to job growth and from higher taxes to higher take-home pay. for is why i'm running president. i know how to change the course of the nation. i know how to get to a balanced budget that build the jobs and to get a rise in take-home pay.

accomplishing change is not something i talk about it is something i have done. and it is what i will do when i am president of the united lp.tes with your healt now, if you believe we can do better, if you believe america should be on a better course, if you are tired of being tired, then i ask you to vote for real change. paul ryan and i will bring real change to america from day one. when i'm elected the economy and american jobs will be stagnant, but i will not waste any time complaining about my predecessor.

won't spend my time trying to pass partisan legislation that is unrelated to jobs. from day one i am going to work to put americans back to work. now, you know as well as i do that people across the country are responding to our 5 per plan to create jobs. part one is about taking full advantage of our energy resources. on day one, i'm going to increase the number of leases and permits to drill on federal land. and i will act to speed the approval of the keystone pipeline from canada. now, secondly, i will boost trade, with latin america.

and i will finally designate china as a currency manipulator because it is time to trade -- for america. now, third, i want to send to congress the retraining and reform act to make sure every worker has the skills they need for a good-paying job. fourth, i will move to tackle out of control spending. i will send congress the first of several fundamental reforms called the down payment of fiscal sanity act. and in this act, we will not just slow down the rate of government and its spending but i will cut spending. you see, i'm not going to take office on january 20. i will take responsibility as waell.

number five, i am going to act to boost small business and all business. i will issue executive orders aimed at the problems that are holding back the economy. in the first of those is going to grant state waivers from obama-care to begin its repeal. second is going to launch a review of all of the obama regulations and i will eliminate or repair those that are killing american jobs. and for the first time in four years, every entrepreneur, every small business person, every job creator will know that the president of the united states

likes them and loves the jobs and higher wages they bring to america. we've almost forgotten what a real recovery looks like. what americans can achieve when we limit government instead of limiting the dreams of our fellow americans. and that is about to change. now, the people who will be voting will be able to choose the future they want. you can stay on the path of the last four years or you can choose a real change. you know if the president is reelected, he will still be unable to work with people in congress. he has ignored them. he has blamed them and attacked them. the debt ceiling is going to come up again and shut down and the fault will be threatened.

the president was right when he said he cannot change washington from the inside. in this case, we can take him at his word. you see, when i'm collected -- when i am elected -- i'm going to work with republicans and democrats in congress. i am going to meet regularly with their leaders and endeavor to find good men and women on both sides of the aisle who care more about the country than they do about politics. now, you also know that if the president were to be reelected, he will continue his war on coal and oil and natural gas. all of that would guarantee

higher energy prices and fewer jobs as well. when i am elected we will change course on energy. i know how much energy means to middle-class families struggling to get by. we can hold down prices at the pump and grow new jobs with energy that includes coal, oil, gas, nuclear, and renewables. you know, that if the president were to be reelected, he would continue to promote government and demote business. he chose his own jobs counsel, you know. it was made up of leaders from business leaders across the country. he wanted their advice on the biggest issue of the time -- creating jobs and a stronger economy. the you know how long it has been since he met with them? nine months. look, i see free enterprise as a means for people to fulfill their dreams. and so, by the way, the other

day, i was in richmond, virginia and i met with someone named rhonda elliott. she has been running her family restaurant business, bills, barbecue -- bill's barbecue. at its height point, it employed 200 people. she closed it down. she told me the obama economy put her out of business. she teared up. this was not about money. this is about the future of for family and the employees she cares about. i want to help the hundreds of thousands of people like thoda andrhoda and i will. now you know that if the president were to be reelected

he will say every good thing he can about education, but in the final analysis, he will do what his largest campaign contributors do and that is public sector unions. they will insist upon their path. your kids would have the same schools with the same results. i am president, i am going to be a voice of the children and parents because they do not have a union. i want to make sure the parents have the information they need to know to find out whether their school is succeeding or failing. and i want to make sure they have the choice to pick the school where their child has the best chance for success. one more thing. under barack obama, or reelected president barack obama, our military will experience what the secretary of

defense called devastating cuts which would jeopardize our national security as well as kill jobs. president, i will not cut our commitment to national defense. a strong america is the best ally pea's has ever known and i am keeping strong -- peace has ever known and i am keeping strong. i've watched as our campaign has gathered the strength of the movement. it is not only the size of the crowds. this is an extraordinary crowd tonight. it's also the depth of our shared vision. it has made me strive more to be worthy of your support, to campaign as i would govern, to

speak for the aspirations of all americans. i learned as governor of massachusetts the best achievements are shared achievements. i learned to respect and good will go a long way and are usually returned in kind. that is how i conduct myself as president. i will bring people together, doing big things for the common good. i will not just represent one party. i will represent one nation. >> u.s.a.! u.s.a.! u.s.a.! >> now, as you know, throughout this campaign, president obama has tried to convince you these last four years have been a success. he's loading a plan for the next

four years. he wants to take all the things he did in his first term -- the stimulus, obama-care -- and to try them all over again. look, our big dreams will not be satisfied with a small agenda that has already failed. yesterday, i imagine you heard this, yesterday president obama asked his supporters to vote for revenge. for revenge. instead, i ask the american people to vote for love of country. >> u.s.a.! u.s.a.! >> together, we have got to lead america to a better place. now, we are three days away from a fresh start. three days away from the first

day of a new beginning. i have an unshakable faith in the american candidate. if anyone is worried that the last four years are the best we can do, if there are any that have feared the american dream is fading away, where and wonder whether better jobs are things of the past, i have a clear and unequivocal message. with the right leadership america is about to come roaring back. >> u.s.a.! u.s.a.! >> we are americans and we can do anything. the only thing that stands between us and some of the best years we have ever known is lack of leadership. that is why we have elections. you saw the differences between

president obama and myself when we were side by side in our debates. he says it has to be this way. i say it cannot stay this way. he is offering excuses. i've got a plan. i cannot wait to get going. he is hoping we will settle. but americans do not settle. we build. we aspire. we listened to that voice inside this as we can do better, a better job, a better life for our kids, a bigger, better country that is coming soon. three more days and we can get to work restoring our confidence and renewing our conviction, confidence that we are on a solid path to a steady

improvement, confidence that college graduates four years from now will find a better job. the confidence that the single mother who is working two jobs will have a shot at a better job as wall. ell. now, my confidence in america and in our future stems from what i've seen in the hearts of the american people. we are people who are given to give ourselves to things larger than ourselves. it says that a hero is not someone that is larger than life, just larger than himself. some years ago, i was serving as a boy scout leader and the boy scouts of america. i was at a court of honor. and there was a long table at the front of the room and i was seated next to the american flag. a person who was speaking at the

podium was a scoutmaster we had flown in to tell his story, from my demint, colorado -- from mo nument, colorado. he said his boy scout troop wanted a special american flag. they bought one and they had flown above the capitol building. when they came home, the boys said they would like to have nasa take it to the space shuttle. nasa agreed. you can imagine the pride of our boys as they were sitting in their rooms at school watching the tv sets as they saw the space challenger shuttle launch into the air. and they saw explode on the tv screen in front of their eyes. he called nasa and, called a week after week, had they found a remnant of the flight? month after month, still no remnant of the flag. he was reading an article that

describes some of the debris from the challenger disaster and it mentioned a flag. nasa said they had a presentation to make to their boards. the boys were there and they presented the boys with its plastic container. inside was the american flag, their flag, in perfect condition. and he said, that's it at the end of the table next to mr. romney. i grabbed that flag and held it out, and it was as if the electricity was running through my arm and i thought about all of the men and women in our space program who put themselves in danger's path out of a desire for learning, for us. this is the american way. think of our servicemen and women who put themselves in harm's way for freedom.

i have not seen that flag in 15 or 20 years or that scoutmaster but monument, colorado, is not that far from here. would you please welcome that scoutmaster from monument, colorado? [applause] >> thank you. >> thank you. now, did i get that story right? >> you did, sir. >> that is a great flag, representing the greatest nation in the history of the earth. thank you. thank you. isn't that something?

i see a troup of scouts here. thanks, young men, for your service in the community. it is in the american candidate, this idea -- the american spirit, this idea of giving to others. my sister is one of my life heroes. she is in her 70's now. she has 8 children. seven of them are raised with children of their own. the youngest of those children was born with down's syndrome. jeffrey is 43. my sister lives as a single mother. her husband passed away a few years ago. she has devoted her life, over 43 years and over these last several years, to jeffrey and making sure he has an abundant life. she is a hero to me.

think of all the single moms that are struggling to make sure they have what is necessary to put a good meal on the table at the end of the day. the moms and dads that are working two jobs. they hardly see each other but they want to make sure the kids have the kind of close they have a school so they do not stand up. think of the couple's at christmas time who will say to each other, let's not exchange gives. let's make sure we have enough for our kids to have a great christmas. this is a nation of people that give of themselves for things bigger than themselves. on november 6, i want us to come together and draw on that greatness. and that on november 7, we are going to work. by the way, i want you to reach

across the street to that neighbor on the other side of the street that has the yard sign for the other guy. and i want you to know i will reach across the aisle in washington to people of good faith in the other party. we have got to come together and work for the common good of this great nation. this is much more than our moment. it is america's moment of renewal and purpose and optimism. we have journeyed far and wide in this great campaign for america's future. now we're almost there. one final push will get us there. we had a lot of short nights and long days. now we are close. the door to a brighter future is there and open, waiting for us. i need your vote, i need your work, i need your help. walk with me. let's walk together. thank you so very much, colorado. you guys are the best. you guys are the best.
